What to do after a loss?

As homeowners ourselves, we know how quickly you want your property restored.  In order to assure your claim is handled quickly and efficiently, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Take all steps necessary to protect you and your family.  If the authorities say to evacuate, follow their instructions; your safety is the most important goal of all.  If you have to evacuate your home, please keep all receipts for expenses you incur while you cannot live in your home.

  2. Take temporary steps to protect your property from further damage and take pictures of the damage.  For example, you will want to cover exposed property with a tarp and keep receipts for any temporary repairs.  Please do not make permanent repairs until your adjuster has had a chance to look at the damage.

  3. Contact us on (866)482-5246 or through the website immediately after the loss.  The quicker you let us know, the sooner we can work with you to limit the extent of the damages and settle your claim.  For example, after a pipe bursts, stopping the leak and drying out water is of the utmost importance.

  4. Our claims representative will want to know the facts of the loss, including how it occurred, when, what and where it occurred, and who might have been involved or seen the incident that caused the loss.

  5. For all thefts, please call the police and let them know the items that were stolen, and report all stolen credits cards immediately to your card company.

  6. In the event of a loss to personal property, your videos, photographs, manuals, model names, serial numbers, and store where purchased are helpful to quickly settle your claim.
